Vijay has founded or co-founded multiple companies and has raised tens of millions in funding.  He is a tri-fellowship trained brain tumor surgeon and is a pioneer in complex brain tumor surgery.  Vijay has published extensively and has three textbooks published or in-press based on his innovative work.  He earned a BS from UCLA in Electrical Engineering with a Biomedical Engineering specialization.  After medical school, he completed his neurosurgery residency at Duke University Medical Center, with one of the most renowned brain tumor centers in the world. 

Vijay has devoted his life to improving the lives of patients with brain cancer and has over 20 years in the medical device/biotechnology industry.

Chief Technology Officer

Jeremy has a diverse background in biomedical engineering, development and business growth, spending 20+ years working in medical device product development and manufacturing.  He has experience of working with both start-up and multinational companies.  His passion is taking early-stage medical concepts from feasibility through to commercialization. Much of Jeremy’s focus has been on complex electromechanical systems, including robotic surgical devices, implantable pacemakers, MRI and ultrasound imaging systems, as well as therapeutic ultrasound applications.

Jeremy excels at architecting technology road maps that reduce commercialization risks while leading large cross-functional teams on the path to successful solutions applied at each phase of development.

Chief Financial Officer

Imran is the Chief Financial Officer of Alpheus Medical and has been involved with the company since co-leading its Series A investment in 2020. He served on the board prior to formally joining the leadership team as CFO. He brings over two decades of experience spanning venture capital, biotech, medtech, and corporate strategy. Before joining Alpheus, Imran was the founding partner of Action Potential Venture Capital, a fund focused on bioelectronic medicine and neuromodulation. He led investments in several pioneering companies in the space, helping advance novel therapies targeting the nervous system.

Imran held various roles in GSK’s business development group earlier in his career, with a focus on R&D collaborations and venture investments. He is particularly interested in supporting mission-driven teams working on complex and urgent challenges like brain cancer.

Nick Ellens, PhD.

VP, Research & Development

Nick has an extensive history in therapeutic ultrasound. He previously held a faculty position in the Division of MRI Research at Johns Hopkins University. His research at JHU included delivering medications and functional imaging agents across the blood-brain barrier using MR-guided focused ultrasound and different approaches for thermal ablation. He has worked as a consultant for various ultrasonics companies and is a member of the ultrasonics section of the International Electrotechnical Commission.

Nick earned his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto where his thesis was on electronically-steered phased arrays for focused ultrasound surgery applications. His prior research includes work conducted at various prestigious institutions such as the Sunnybrook Research Institute and Harvard University, and he is a widely-published author in the field of ultrasound therapeutics.

Ann-Marie Hulstine

VP, Clinical Operations

Ann-Marie has 20+ years of experience in clinical development having held leadership roles at several biotech organizations including TriSalus Life Sciences and CSL Behring. Her broad expertise encompasses leading global teams in clinical development in both therapeutics as well as therapeutic/device combinations.

Ann-Marie’s experience has spanned the development life cycle, and strategic portfolio management in areas including oncology, immuno-oncology, dermatology, and immunology.

Troy has broad expertise across systems engineering, machine design, medical device instrumentation and consumables, design control, and medical device quality. He has helped several medical device startups deliver innovative products to market and holds several patents. Before joining the Alpheus Medical team, Troy provided engineering consulting services to medical device, aerospace, and industrial machinery manufacturers.

Troy held various research and development engineering roles at Verathon, ACIST Medical Systems, Beckman Coulter, Stratasys, and MTS Systems, and has over 25 years of experience developing complex systems.
